Loveland woman building NEST to fight child poverty

Like a mother robin builds a nest for her eggs, Evangeline “Van” DeVol is spending the summer building a NEST for children in Loveland.

NEST stands for Nutrition, Education, Safety and Transformation. Van DeVol believes this pilot program is the key to ending childhood poverty in our own suburban communities. She started the pilot program feeding lunches to kids in need at Robinson Park in Loveland May 31 and will continue through Aug. 19. Learning the number of kids living in poverty in our own suburban communities shocked her too.
