Athena and Peggy have been best friends for as long as they can remember.

Growing up in MacArthur Park Apartments, they have done everything together, including “turning it” around in school this year.

Last year both girls hated going to school and struggled in class getting C’s, D’s, and F’s. They decided that they needed help outside of school and with their parents permission, brought themselves to the NEST program.

The girls hardly miss a day with our volunteers and Homework Help program.  By identifying their individual needs, our volunteers are able better assist the girls.  The consistency of the same volunteer along with the structure from NEST, is helping to provide an environment for the girls to succeed.

With their hard, hard work, not missing any homework, and a winning attitude … both love school and are getting nothing but A’s and B’s.
