After School Programs
During the school year, the NEST-mobile travels into the community’s low income areas with its After School Homework and Tutoring Program. The program delivers accessible homework help, target-tutoring, technology (Internet access, computers, printers), school supplies, nutritious snacks (which include fresh fruit daily) and organized outdoor sports activities when the weather permits.
Early Learners Program
School readiness is key for every child’s successful academic career. For many children growing up in low income environments, there are extra challenges in being ready to start school. To help meet those challenges, during the school year the NEST-mobile delivers a free Early Learners Program on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 10 am to Noon for children ages 4-5 years old.
Lunch, Learn & Play Summer Program
During the summer months, NEST Community Learning Center operates its free Lunch, Learn & Play Program daily for 8 weeks in the same low-income neighborhoods it serves during the school year. The program runs for two hours each week day and delivers a healthy lunch. NEST also provides organized “day camp” type fun, games to maximize physical activity, library visits, book giveaways, and academic bridge activities to help minimize academic skill loss. Being engaged with our at-risk students all year round is especially important in maintaining that relationship piece that is so critical to NEST’s continued success in the community.
